Only because I'm going to a funeral at 2pm. But I'll take it.
I apparently decided, without thinking about it, to use the time between Xmas & whatever day we go back to work in 2010 (I don't have all that time off, that's just the timeframe) to kick my dependency on sleep aids (primarily Xanax). So far, it's not going well. Didn't matter on the holiday nights but last night, tossing and turning till well past 4am (and resuming at 7am), completely sucked. I'm hoping I'll be so exhausted tonight that I'll just conk out. More likely: I'll end up napping around 7p and tossing & turning when I go to bed.
I am sooooo glad I'm not traveling by air this week. As always, one person is a retard and everyone - all over the world - pays for it. Even though that one person's action proved that all the screening insanity DOESN'T WORK. Evil doers will always find a way to do evil.
I watched 3 more episodes of MadMen (season1) last night. I wanted to watch Extras but I couldn't find the DVDs. During my night of tossing & turning, their MIA location finally dawned on me (table in the dining room, under the curtain that's currently draped over the table (there's other stuff on top of the curtain)).
I never got as far as housecleaning. That sucks. I really really really need to vacuum the carpets and mop the floors. I haven't bothered to look for a new cleaning service yet. And I also haven't called the old one to get my key back.
Okaaaaay... time to shower and get dressed. I don't need to leave here till around 1pm but if I put it off any longer, I'll probably lose track of time.
I've spent the past two days in a hardcore vegetative state, recovering from the Christmas festivities. It has been delightful.
- The movie "Enchanted" is damn enchanting. So winsome and charming with the fairytale hooha and the princess saving her prince. I kinda loved it.
- However, I also watched "My Fair Lady" and it kinda bugged me. The whole "what good is a woman" bullshit didn't sit well with me. I'm considering it dropping it from the best musicals ever list (which includes Singin' in the Rain; Funny Face; West Side Story; Moulin Rouge; and the TV show Glee).
- For Christmas I bought these flashing penguin lights. They are adorable and apparently sound activated. Things that will turn on the lights: Coughing, laughing, opening a can of Diet Coke with Lime. Things that don't turn on the lights: Whistling (though this does get both the cats to come down stairs); singing John Mellencamp songs.
- Whoever decided that something called a "fruit and nut caramel" would be a good idea to put in a box of chocolates should be kicked in the fruit and/or nuts.
- I have to read two books this week to make my RP2009 goal of 56 books. One of the books I'm in the midst of is a graphic novel, I'd think this would be a sure thing but the thing is a doorstop.
- Tuesday is Musical Night at Supergenius HQ where Jaycie, Max, and I will be watching Funny Face and all three High School Musicals while eating Chinese Food and drinking hot cocoa. Try not to be jealous.
- For Christmas I got a cheese grater and an electric pencil sharpener -- two things I really wanted.
- Also I conned Ericka into giving me a William Shakespeare action figure. Sweet.
- Finally, two more posts and I win this challenge. Double sweet!
My head is absolutely buzzing with ideas and planning, goals, projects and lists. I should be a professional project creator. I have come to the conclusion that there are simply not enough hours in the day. What should one do? Sleep less? Hardly! But managing my time more effectively would probably go a long way towards helping me accomplish every harebrained scheme I think up.
What a delightful weekend we just spent. Sherlock Holmes was interestingly done and well worth a watch. I remember my mum reading Sherlock Holmes to me and my sisters at bedtime. The story of the speckled band scared the proverbial crap out of me. I remember reading the story to Jesse and Libby when they were still quite young (we were living in Hawaii at the time) and they were completely unruffled by it.
I wanted to go to the zoo today (yes, in December) but the snow was coming down thick and fast.
Todd didn't fancy negociating icy roads all the way to Indianapolis so we stayed close to home.
Ice skating wasn't the same without our English cousins but we're planning to get them stateside next winter.
Woke to 99.8 fever. Not much for most, but I typically run 97.6.
Still "off" but I just COULD NOT stay away from the Macy's after christmas sale.
Oh, and I had a gift certificate (like I kept to THAT amount). :-)
Once back I found "just enough" energy to sort my clothes and reorganize my side of the closet and my dresser.
TA DA. Summer stuff stored away. Things that don't fit, or I don't wear - in a bag for goodwill. Now If I can just get BEN to sort through his stuff! Seems "his" cat peed on this clothes on the floor of the closet. Um. Ben. PICK UP YOUR CLOTHES. :-)
Also got shoot some birds (with a great camera). Ben got a new fancy pants camera with HD video capacity and I inherited his prior fancy pants Canon! He's letting me borrow all his amazing lens (until I prove unworthy). He even taught me a bit about HOW to use the camera. I have not downloaded anything - but I did catch at least one cardinal!
We are waiting for snow. It was SUPPOSED to come today, but no snow. Maybe tomorrow. Should be A LOT of snow.
:- ) I have a new friend with a pair of barely used cross country skis I am likely to buy from her. There should be snow to ski on in the parks and in my yard soon.
Can you tell? I am very very happy here. Even if I AM a tad sick.
Actually, I do. SO glad I bought this stupid "slutty pirate" costume when I saw it on sale. I KNEW I'd find a reason to wear it.
Being cold out, I'm also wearing leggings. And simply flats rather than slut shoes. The first pair of flats I donned had cross straps and I looked like some freaky, BAD, ballerina pirate hybrid. Now I just look like a fool (or a waitress at Jolly Roger's.... are those still around? Anyone else remember them?) and fool is what I was going for.
Gonna grab some cheap champagne and head up to Hollywood and hope this food fight goes off.
There be nasty cold in me lungs and voice box. I be coughin and blowin and there be much layin about. arggggh
Thanks be to the sunny skies and calm winds and me scurvy meds. aggggh
